Leak detection
Swimming pool leak detection in Jeddah
Losing more water than evaporation explains? We find out where your pool is leaking, whether it is the structure, a fitting or a pipe underground, and repair it properly so it stays fixed.
Is my pool leaking or just evaporating?
In Jeddah's summer a pool can lose several millimetres of water a day to evaporation alone, more on windy rooftops. That is normal. A steady loss well beyond that, wet patches around the pool, cracks, or a water bill that keeps climbing usually point to a leak.
Leaks rarely fix themselves. Water escaping under the pool can wash out soil, damage the structure and, on rooftops, the floors below. Finding the leak early keeps the repair small.
- Water level dropping fast
- Damp ground or walls nearby
- Cracks in tiles or plaster
- Loose or hollow tiles
- Air in the pump
- Higher water bills

Where leaks happen
The most common places pools leak
From the pools we test in Jeddah, leaks usually come from one of these places:
- 1Around the skimmer, where the plastic meets the concrete.
- 2Around light niches and their cable conduits.
- 3Return and main drain fittings, especially in older pools.
- 4Cracks in the shell from ground movement or poor construction.
- 5Underground pipes, joints and valves between the pool and plant room.
- 6Leaking pump seals, valves or filter fittings in the plant room.

Repair
Repairs that last
Once the leak is found we explain the repair and give you a written quote. Fitting leaks are often sealed underwater; shell cracks are opened up, sealed and re-tiled; failed pipes are exposed and replaced with pressure-rated fittings.
After repair we repeat the test to confirm the loss has stopped, so you are not paying for a fix that does not work.

How we find the leak
A step-by-step process that narrows down the leak instead of guessing.
- 1
Bucket test
Compare pool water loss with a bucket of water beside it to rule out evaporation.
- 2
Pump on / off test
Measure loss with the pump running and stopped to tell pipe leaks from shell leaks.
- 3
Dye test
Release dye near fittings, lights, skimmers and cracks to see where water is drawn out.
- 4
Pressure test
Isolate and pressurise pipe lines to confirm which one is leaking.

Frequently asked questions
How much water loss is normal for a pool in Jeddah?
A few millimetres a day in summer is typical evaporation, more for windy rooftop pools. A consistent loss of more than about 5 cm a week deserves a leak test.
How do you find a leak without draining the pool?
Most leaks are found with the pool full, using bucket, dye and pressure tests. Draining is only needed for some structural repairs.
Can you find leaks in underground pipes?
Yes. We pressure-test each line separately to identify the leaking pipe, then expose and repair only the section needed.
How long does leak detection take?
Usually a few hours on site, plus a day or two of monitoring for the bucket test.
Do you repair the leak as well?
Yes. We repair fittings, cracks and pipes, and retest afterwards to confirm the leak has stopped.
Is a leaking rooftop pool urgent?
Yes. Water can damage the structure and the floors below, so we prioritise rooftop leaks.
